These autoclavable test tube racks are molded in a single, continuous piece. No assembly is required and no detachable pieces, especially ones that can be lost. There is the choice of Delrin? fiberglass-reinforced polyoxymethylene (POM), an important engineering polymer developed by DuPont which has exceptional chemical and heat resistance (except to open flames). The racks include molded-in index coordinates and flat areas for convenient labelling. The polypropylene test tube racks are molded from the same tooling, but does not have quite the high temperature properties as Delrin. Also, the densities of the two plastics are quite different, so the Delrin racks do not float whereas the polypropylene racks do float.
